First Graders Visit Safety City!

On Monday, April 30, 2007, the CCS First Graders took a field trip to the Jackson Noon Optimist's Safety City in the Jackson Park.  We learned so much about safety while we were there.  Two firemen from the Jackson Fire Department were there to talk to us about fire safety, and two police officers from the Jackson Police Department talked to us about general bicycle and vehicle safety.  Then an instructor from the Noon Optimist taught us all about bike safety.  We watched a fun video, learned about using hand signals, were fitted for our very own helmets, and then got a chance to practice what we learned on the streets of Safety City.  We had a picnic lunch and played on the playground before heading back to school.  Here are some snapshots from our morning in the park.

A special thanks to the Noon Optimist for such a great opportunity and to the firemen and police officers who gave of their time to speak to us.  We had a great time and came away with a lot of very valuable information!
