Fall Fun in First Grade
October Activities

Fall is such a lovely time of year!  We have been enjoying the cool, crisp mornings, the changing colors on the trees, and lots of fun fall activities.

The pictures below show the annual Gift Wrap Fundraiser Winners heading off for their fun afternoon!  They went out to eat pizza, then went bowling!  And they cruised around town in style - in a limo!  Good job, winners!

Since October is Fire Safety Month, we were not surprised to see the Fire Department waiting for us during a recent fire drill.  We did a good job exiting the building safely, and spent some time learning more about fire safety.  Mrs. Smart liked playing in the fire truck, but they wouldn't let her drive!

Here's a picture of our class with one of our favorite teachers - Mrs. Comeau!  She came to visit one afternoon in October and we were so excited to see her!  She is looking and feeling great!

The month ended with a wonderful Harvest Party day.  We got to dress up - not in scary costumes but in career costumes!  We were able to dress like an occupation we might like to be involved with some day.  In our classroom alone we had doctors, nurses, a nurse practitioner, an optometrist, a tennis player, skateboarder, soccer player, basketball player, cheerleader, tennis player, cable guy, a p.e. teacher, a veterinarian, a race car driver and a marine.

At the end of the day it was finally Harvest Party time!  We enjoyed having snacks first, then played 'pin the hat on the pumpkin' in the room before going outside to play 'dress the scarecrow.'  Mrs. Shelton was one of the scarecrows we got to dress up (and make up!).

Watch for more fun photos during the month of November!
