JANUARY 2008

Even though it's cold outside, we're staying warm and cozy inside.  We're working hard, but taking some time for fun, too.  One of the must fun things about our January so far has been a special visit from little Will Franklin!  He's a one month old baby that we have been praying for since he was born.  He had some heart problems when he was born, so he had open heart surgery.  As you can see from the pictures below, he's doing just great now!  So well that he could come and meet his first grade friends in person (though he mostly slept through the visit!).  Anyway, you'll see us pictured below with Will, his Mom and Dad, his sisters Tara and Leah and his brother Luke.  Isn't he cute? We've been learning lots of new things in math, and sometimes it helps to put away our papers and pencils and just explore our new skills in a different way.  So on Wednesday, January 16, we worked some puzzles that helped us practice telling time and counting money, and we solved some addition facts using our 'Elephant Math' game.  While half the class was working in math centers, the other half was up in the school computer lab sharpening our keyboarding skills.

The picture below shows us doing one of our favorite things - listening to a story!  One of our junior high friends came down and read two fun storybooks about Figgy Twosocks and his friend Jefferson Bear.
