Meeting a Famous Author

On February 28th, the CCS first grade class traveled across town to the Cape Girardeau Public Library where we were able to meet children's author Lisa Wheeler.  She was fabulous!  She read lots of her stories to us and even allowed us to interact with some of the characters.  She told us about how she loves being a writer because she gets to be the boss of the story!  We liked that and decided we might like being authors, too.  The library provided some nice, blank books for us so we could practice writing and illustrating our own stories.

After we finished at the library, we went to CiCi's Pizza for lunch, compliments of one of our parents.  It was a fun and educational field trip that left each of us dreaming up stories we might want to tell!
