CCS first graders will stay busy this year. We'll take field trips to the Bootheel Youth Museum in Malden, Missouri, Purina Farms in St. Louis, Missouri, and Creative Ewe right here in Cape Girardeau.
We'll work in learning centers and visit our school's computer lab most Wednesdays, and do some neat cooking projects like making pound cake and gingersnaps. Later this year we'll make green eggs and ham, edible dirt with worms, rabbit pizza, cornbread, and homemade butter. We'll also continue to make some fabulous art projects, improve our reading, and learn to add, subtract, count money and tell time.
We'll take 'virtual field trips' to the San Diego Zoo, the Great Wall of China, and many cities, countries and mountain ranges all over the world via our classroom computer. We'll use our school's newly expanded computer lab to play math and phonics games, practice our pre-typing skills, and do other review activities.
We'll have PE, Music, and Spanish class twice a week, Library and Art once a week, and Chapel once a month. We'll have Social Studies class first and second quarters, Science second, third and fourth quarters, Dental Health in February and Health fourth quarter.
We'll plant flowers and vegetables, hatch chicks in our classroom, watch tiny caterpillar larvae turn into beautiful butterflies, watch tadpoles develop into frogs, and learn all about life in colonial days. We'll make lifelong friends who will share in the wonderful memories we'll make together this year.
We'll pray together everyday, and we'll memorize some impressive passages of scripture. We'll learn how God's Word applies to our everyday lives and we'll have a new and exciting Bible story each day.
First grade is an exciting year, and we are anxious to share it with each other and with you. Please visit our site often to keep up with the wonderful things we are doing and learning!
