ART

         

    Below are descriptions of the four art classes available to junior high students. All classes are one semester in length.

 

Fundamentals of Art 1- In this class students will learn basic principles of drawing, color, texture, and form. Use of a variety of media and methods will be incorporated such as painting with acrylics, charcoal drawing, block printing, drawing with graphite pencils, paper mache, and paper/clay sculpture. The student will also be required to keep a drawing journal to record progress and practice. There is no pre-requisite to enroll in this class.

 

Fundamentals of Art 2- The students will build on the principles learned in Fundamentals of Art 1: drawing, perspective, color texture and form. There will again be a variety of mediums used: graphite pencils, charcoal, pen and ink, acrylic and water color paints, clay mosaics and simple exploration of photography. Students must complete Fundamentals of Art 1 prior to enrolling in Fundamentals of Art 2. 

 

Art Appreciation 1- This class will focus on a variety of artistic styles, artists that represent that style, and their work. The student will learn about the life of each artist and study the work artist produced. A project will then follow which will represent the style and tone of each artist. Artists include: Dourer, Rembrandt, Degas, Monet, Van Gogh, Serrate, Cezanne, O'Keefe, and Cassata. There is no pre-requisite to enroll in this class. 

   

Art Appreciation 2- This class will focus on a variety of artistic styles, artists who represent that style, and their work. The student will learn about the life of each artist and study the work artist produced. A project will then follow which will represent  the style and tone of each artist. Artists include: DaVinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Picasso, Rockwell, and Hopper. There is no pre-requisite to enroll in this class.
