February Oral Reports

I have told the children that the February reports will be on a president of their choosing.  They are to turn in three choices to me and I will let them know whom they are to report on.  They will need a one page, typed, double-spaced report (14 point font) to turn in to me (yes, parents may do the typing!).  The children can use note cards if they would like for the report portion but I will ask for their typed report before they begin.  Three minute maximum on the oral presentation (this means you can speak anywhere from 30 seconds to three minutes).  I would like for the children to work on their presentation part of the report (making eye contact, standing still, loud voices, etc.) this month rather than just reading them.  Props may be used as long as they are not distracting from the presentation.  If your child wants to wear a full costume for the report, please let me know and I will speak to Mrs. Smart and see if they may wear them all day.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call me or stop by.

Some facts to include in the reports are when and where the man was born, what he is best known for, what political party did he belong to, things he accomplished while he was president, how long he was president, did he have any pets, and any other interesting information you would like the class to know about.

If we have a snow day on the day your report is scheduled, be prepared to do it on the day we return to school.  Depending on the number of days missed, you may not be able to do your presentation on that day, but please be prepared just in case you are called on to do your presentation!
