Mrs. Parsons’ Third grade class at Cape Christian School will be learning many new things this year.  Along with the regular Abeka curriculum, we will be presenting monthly oral reports on various topics; learning the proper care for our classroom pets, new music, PE and library skills, growing closer to God, making class books and trying to live and function as the Christian God wants each of us to be.

Each child will be responsible for contributing to the making of at least 9 class books and presenting oral reports to their classmates.   The children will start the year off with a one- minute oral presentation entitled   “All About Me ”.  Included in these reports will be their life stories, when and where they were born, any pets or interests they might have, along with their favorite Bible story or verse.  “Third Grade in Review”  will be the final oral report consisting of their highs and lows of being a third grader.   These reports will then be typed up and presented to the incoming third graders.

Third grade is a very exciting time full of growth and changes.  We will be focusing on Fully Relying on God (F.R.O.G.) for all our needs.  To go along with our F.R.O.G. theme, we have a White’s Tree Frog named Dumpy for one of our class pets.  Dumpy is not alone in our room though.  We also have three hermit crabs, a Red-tailed Boa, better known as Boaz, two African Fat-tailed Geckos (Sally and Scooter) and finally one Leopard Gecko who goes by the name Prickles.  The class will be learning all about the care and handling of each critter.

As you can see, Third Grade at Cape Christian School is going to be a very active time both academically as well as spiritually.  I pray all of the children will honestly come to understand what it means to have Christ live in their hearts and will be willing to F.R.O.G.!
